NEWTON ABBOTT PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE

Richard Bailey. ICO Solicitor

Dear Sir

I can advise you that I visited the subject title today and can advise you categorically that this Pedestrian Bridge in Newton Abbott is NON-COMPLIANT to the BS/EN 62305/2008.

I appreciate this particular bridge is not part of the ongoing cases with EA/2010/0152 and GIA3037/2011, but I am merely highlighting a systemic failure by the Devon County Council to ensure their pedestrian bridges are provisioned with the Minimum Lightning Protection Systems (LPS).

However, I would like to say that this NA bridge is somewhat an improvement on the Exeter Chiefs Rugby Bridge. and the Balfour Beatty Group have at least made a token attempt to provide “SOME” LPS.

It should be noted that the Balfour Beatty Group built BOTH Bridges.

Please retain this email in the Final Bundle as I believe it is most relevant to my EA/2010/0512 FTT Case.

With thanks

Yours sincerely

Alan M Dransfield

NB Ben Bradshaw

I would be most grateful if you would flag this up to the DCC because as you are aware, I am under a lifetime email ban. It is only a matter of time before there is a need for body bags at one of the public structures/buildings.

I do hold photographic evidence which supports my allegations that this NA Bridge is not fit for purpose. The DCC are on record that this NA Bridge has been Provisioned with adequate LPS but if my memory serves me correctly, that’s what they said about the Rugby Bridge.

NB Mr Andrew Hayward.

You really must get your Design Engineers on some basic LPS training Course because they failing to ensure minimum Lightning Protection System are provisioned on your Pedestrian Bridges.

I wonder how many of the Bridges you have built Nationwide??!!
